YNYC Announces 2012-13 Season

The Young New Yorkers’ Chorus is pleased to announce its 2012-13 Season. Highlights will include:

Greatest Love: The Mother, December 2012
The warmth and beauty of YNYC’s popular Christmas Concert, with favorite holiday music, Mozart’s Regina Ceoli, and Ceclia McDowall’s Ave Maris Stella. Also works by Shank, Ferko, and Gjeilo.

I’m Your Venus: The Beauty, March 2013
Music by women composers, and music and poetry in tribute to women. Featuring new works by the finalists of the Competition for Young Composers, as well as music by Whitacre, Tavener, and a variety of hilarious and poignant American folk songs.

Live to Tell: The Warrior, June 2013
Featuring David Lang’s Pulitzer Prize winning Little Match Girl Passion, and a new work by Shara Worden of My Brightest Diamond. Also works by Bernstein, Lauridsen, and Pearsall.

    This looks like a wonderful line up for a wonderful group. I myself was part of MYO during Mr. Kerschner’s time as the director of the youth chorale, and I have never had a conductor who taught with such passion. I look forward to seeing The YNYC in the season to come, and what fantastic musicianship it will display.
