Michael Kerschner / Artistic Director

The Young New Yorkers’ Chorus is a home to choral singers in their 20s and early 30s who yearn for both a fun, social atmosphere and superior artistic experiences. The mixed ensemble and women’s ensemble each perform 2-3 concerts per year, and also engage in social events like bowling, kickball, karaoke, and bar nights. The mixed ensemble rehearses on Tuesday evenings, and the Women’s ensemble on Wednesdays. YNYC operates from September through May.

Auditions are held each August in preparation of the start of the season. Prospective singers are asked to have previous choral experience and music-reading ability, a sensitive ear to blending with others, and a desire to perform in a variety of styles and languages. Auditions consist of singing vocal exercises and a simple sight reading test, and singing 16 bars (approx. 1 minute) of a song of your choice, a cappella.
